accountrain was started in 1993 by its owner Sandy Tunwell.  Her vision was to provide accounting services while simplifying the client / accountant relationship.  She is proud to have achieved this and continues to maintain this unique approach when dealing with clients.

Meet the Founder:

Sandy Tunwell, Owner / Managing Consultant
  • Sandy is an active member of several organizations in Ottawa including the Chamber of Commerce as she believes networking is an important part of building relationships with potential clients.

  • She has served on many boards and played an active role on many committees, including several treasurer roles.  She has also recommended, initiated and been involved in many finance committees for clients.

  • Sandy has written many accounting manuals, including several SAP topics for the federal government.

  • Sandy was a Finalist for the Ottawa-Carleton Business Achievement Awards, Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

  • She has over 2,000 teaching hours and has given many workshops covering a variety of accounting topics as well as written several articles for local newspapers.

  • In Sandy’s spare time she enjoys traveling, and has been known to take a cruise or two.  What you may not know is she went to Australia because of an orangutan named Dinar!

Meet the Team:

Intermediate Bookkeeper
Amanda McLeod

Amanda has a Bookkeeping Diploma from Algonquin College and has been working in the accounting field for 10 years, with a strong focus on not-for-profit organizations. For the previous 6 years, Amanda was employed in the Finance Department at the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa.

Amanda Annis

Amanda Annis was educated at the University of Ottawa, and holds a Hon. BSSc. She comes to accountrain with more than 5 years experience in Office Administration including bookkeeping and accounting roles. In line with her focus, she is continuing her education at Algonquin College in Accounting and Bookkeeping courses. Over the last year she has worked with accountrain as part of her transitioned focus to finance and bookkeeping.


Intermediate Bookkeeper
Anna In

Anna graduated from the business accounting program at Algonquin College in 2014. While attending college, she started working as a bookkeeper and also completed her Accounting co-op with a local Corporation. She enjoys working with clients, and is proud of her emphasis on creating sound bookkeeping.


Tax Specialist

Our Tax Consultant is a CPA, CA who helped small and medium sized businesses for over 5 years while working for a mid-sized public accounting firm. Now working in private industry, he continues to work with accountrain to keep his skills sharp and for the enjoyment of engaging with various clients who all have different needs.
